By showing that animals on so many of the farms described as "humane" actually endure many of the same indignities and injustices associated with industrialized farming, is this site in danger of implying that there would be nothing wrong with using animals if it these places truly were like "Old MacDonald‘s farm?"

Because there is so much confusion about "humane" animal products amongst both animal advocates and the general public, a major focus of the Humane Myth web site is letting people know they are being misled about the nature of these products and their purported benefits. Next comes teaching about the injustices that inevitably occur in all forms of animal exploitation, regardless of scale or style, which helps make it clear that "Old MacDonald's farm," real or imagined, can never be the answer.

Once it is understood that using and killing animals is inherently unethical, the value and importance of respect and rights become easier for many people to grasp, opening the door to a positive vision of a just and nonviolent way of life.
